Synopsis: PATTERNS (MINI EDITION)

Pattern is back, and what better way to celebrate its revival than with a cool compendium of the best pattern design from around the globe? This exciting new book showcases some of the most innovative pattern designs, including graphics, textiles, fashion, furnishings, ceramics, tiles, wallpaper, and stationery. While many of the featured designers work commercially, others are independent players whose work is cutting-edge even though, or perhaps because, they don't follow conventional techniques or disciplined structures. Figurative, funky, abstract, pixel-based, graphic, or retro patterns are all featured in this visual feast of the best work to emerge in the last five years.

COLE, DRUSILLA

about author

"Drusilla Cole has spent the majority of her working life teaching for the University of The Arts, London and took early retirement in 2009.

Since then she has enjoyed exploring various forms of printmaking , settling on linocuts and woodcuts as her method of choice. Her inspiration tends to be from objects, places or people that have an emotional effect on her. For instance, lately she has been documenting favourite vintage or flea market finds inspired by them. Prints are on sale at various selected galleries.

Artists books are also of interest to her and she find creating and making them to be a challenge but fun eventually!

Textiles have been part of her life for a long time - and she dye and paint or screen-print her original designs onto 100% silk to create fabulous floaty scarves, which she sell locally and nationally.

She has published four books to date:-
'1000 Patterns', published by A & C Black 2003
'Patterns, New Surface Design', published by Laurence King 2006
'Textiles Now',published by Laurence King 2007
'The Pattern Sourcebook', published by Laurence King 2009"
